A Modern-Day Shikkaiya
NAKAMURA prides its heritage of being a shikkaiya since 1923. The role of this traditional profession that started in the Edo Period was to serve as an intermediary among craftspeople working in the various stages of kimono making. Today, we at NAKAMURA tap into the wealth of Japanese dyeing techniques – traditional to contemporary – and offer solutions to our customers as a “modern-day shikkaiya”. Whether it is partitioning space, decorating with fabrics, creating products for brand enhancement, or introducing new alternatives for unique, custom-made fabrics, NAKAMURA provides a one-stop solution from the planning stage to designing and manufacturing.
